Yleistä tietoa

«Allotina» is a hidden neighborhood covering seven picturesque houses on the eastern side of Patmos island, almost two and a half kilometers from Skala. Among their main characteristics are the unobstructed view of the sea and their traditional decorating style, based on a palette of earthy tones. || Their name is easily understood by the inhabitants of Patmos, as it is entirely connected with the history of the island. «Allotina» was the name of the district founded in Chora by the urban families who came to Patmos, after the fall of Constantinople in 1453. All the houses were built around the Monastery of St. John the Theologian in such a way, so that the inhabitants could be protected against pirates. The monastery, which used to function as a castle in the past, preserves this aspect to this day.
