The history of the building can be traced back to the end of the 16th and the beginning of the 17th century, when above the western Diocletian baths, built in the 4th century, a complex Renaissance square - the Baroque palace was built. || At the beginning of the 20th century, the palace was adapted to Hotel Slavija. || Renaissance stairs lead into Hotel Slavija, which is protected by the Republic of Croatia as a national cultural heritage. Due to its location in Diocletian's Palace, Hotel Slavija is protected by UNESCO as a World Cultural Monument
